This is the most popular tour for first-time visitors to Siem Reap. In a single day, you will experience the iconic Angkor Wat sunrise, explore the mysterious jungle temple of Ta Prohm, and stand face-to-face with the 216 giant stone faces of Bayon, all from the comfort of your own private Tuk-Tuk.
The Small Circle (also known as the Petit Circuit) is the classic route through the heart of the Angkor Archaeological Park. It covers the most famous and photogenic temples, making it the perfect introduction to the ancient Khmer Empire. I will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 AM, and you will be back by early afternoon with plenty of time to enjoy Siem Reap's famous Pub Street or relax by the pool.
This tour is ideal for travelers with limited time who want to see the absolute highlights in one day. No Angkor Pass is needed until we arrive at the ticket office. I will drive you there first.
Temple Stops

Angkor Wat Sunrise at the Reflection Pond
We arrive before dawn to secure a spot at the famous reflection pond, where you will watch the sun rise directly behind the five towers of Angkor Wat. This is the single most photographed moment in all of Cambodia. After sunrise, we enter the main temple complex through the west gate. Look for the 800-meter bas-relief gallery depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, the Apsara dancer carvings, and if you are feeling energetic, climb the steep central tower for a panoramic view of the entire complex.

South Gate of Angkor Thom
The dramatic entrance to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. As we drive through, you will cross a long causeway flanked by 54 Deva (gods) on one side and 54 Asura (demons) on the other, all pulling a giant Naga serpent. Above the gate, four giant stone faces watch over everyone who enters the city. This is one of the most iconic photo spots in the entire park.

Bayon Temple (The Temple of Faces)
The centerpiece of Angkor Thom. Bayon is famous for its 216 massive stone faces, each carved with a serene, mysterious smile. Walking through the upper terraces surrounded by these faces on every side is an unforgettable experience. On the lower levels, look for the incredible bas-reliefs showing everyday life in the ancient Khmer Empire, market scenes, cock fights, fishing, and naval battles on Tonle Sap lake.

Baphuon
A massive three-tiered temple mountain just north of Bayon. Walk across the elevated 200-meter causeway to reach the entrance. The highlight is on the western wall of the second level, where an enormous reclining Buddha stretching 70 meters long was added in the 15th century. This temple took French archaeologists over 50 years to restore.

Phimeanakas (The Celestial Palace)
A small but steep pyramid temple located within the Royal Palace grounds. According to legend, the Khmer king was required to sleep at the top of this temple every night with a Naga spirit in female form. The climb is short but rewarding, offering a peaceful view over the surrounding jungle canopy.

Terrace of the Elephants
A 300-meter-long carved platform that was once used by the king to review his army and watch public ceremonies. The walls are decorated with life-sized elephant carvings, Garuda birds, and hunting scenes. Walk the full length to appreciate the scale, this was essentially the grandstand of the ancient Khmer royal court.

Terrace of the Leper King
Located at the north end of the Terrace of the Elephants. The outer wall features carved Nagas, sea creatures, and royal figures. The real treasure is the hidden inner wall, walk into the narrow corridor between the two walls to discover beautifully preserved carvings of Apsara dancers and mythical figures that have been protected from the elements for centuries.

Ta Prohm (The Tomb Raider Temple)
The most atmospheric temple in all of Angkor. Ta Prohm was deliberately left in a semi-ruined state by archaeologists to show how the jungle slowly reclaims these ancient structures. Massive Silk-Cotton and Strangler Fig trees have wrapped their roots around doorways, towers, and walls, creating the surreal scenes made famous by the Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie. Look for the "dinosaur" carving on one of the columns, a mysterious carving that has puzzled researchers for years.

Banteay Kdei
A peaceful Buddhist monastery just across the road from Ta Prohm. Banteay Kdei receives far fewer visitors, making it a wonderfully quiet place to explore at your own pace. The temple features beautiful carved Apsara dancers and atmospheric corridors that are perfect for photography without the crowds.

Sra Srang (The Royal Bathing Pool)
A 700-meter-wide ancient reservoir directly opposite Banteay Kdei. Originally built as a royal bathing pool for the king, it is now a beautiful, tranquil lake surrounded by stone steps. In the early morning, the light reflecting off the water creates a magical atmosphere. It is a perfect final stop to sit, rest, and reflect on the incredible morning you have just had.
